Episode #47 of the Jays’ Nest Podcast comes to you at a time where there isn’t a whole lot in the way of news surrounding your Toronto Blue Jays. But, just because there are no big trades or free agent signings, doesn’t mean there is nothing to talk about. We look at the Marco Estrada signing, a possible extension for an MVP and we discuss a couple guys who’ve caught our attention in the Arizona Fall League. Plus, we take some reader questions!

Don’t forget our Offseason Tracker will keep you up to date on everything you need to know (and then some) this offseason!

In This Week’s Episode:

  • The Estrada deal is a very smart deal for the Toronto Blue Jays and it is one the represents the inherent risk for both player and club when approaching free agency.

  • Should the Toronto Blue Jays buy out the remaining years of Josh Donaldson‘s arbitration in an effort to possibly save money down the road? It’s more complicated than one might think.
  • There is one hitter and one pitcher who have grabbed our attention during Arizona Fall League action. One of these players will not come as a surprise to our regular listeners. The other is an interesting case of a guy who finds himself a rare commodity in the Blue Jays organization.
  • The Craig Kimbrel trade the Red Sox pulled off has set the cost for closers in the trade market. Is it too high? And, what does that mean for the Blue Jays?
  • Our listeners provide some discussion in the form of a question and a call for comfort. The question has to do with an “under the radar” starting pitching option, while the call for comfort has to do with the departure of David Price and the Blue Jays’ payroll.
