Game Recap: Blue Jays Even Series With Braves

The Blue Jays had dropped the first game of their three game set against the Braves last night and were hoping to even up the series tonight. David Price was on the mound for the Jays and did not disappoint.

The offence got to work early scoring 4 runs in the first inning. Jose Bautista doubled home Ben Revere. Russell Martin doubled home Jose and Edwin Encarnacion. Martin scored on a Ryan Goins sac fly. The Jays were held in check until the 4th inning when Cliff Pennington scored on a sac fly off the bat of Ben Revere. Braves’ starter Shelby Miller was done part way through the 4th. They scored two more in the next frame. Goins scored on a ground out and Revere doubled in Kevin Pillar off of reliever Sugar Ray Marimon. The Braves relievers prevented more runs until Russell Martin let loose a two run shot in the 9th.

David Price experienced only one real blip in his night. The Braves were able to score in the first off of a sac fly and several balls were hit hard. Price was in a groove the rest of the way through. He went 7 innings and threw 105 pitches.

Aaron Loup was brought in for the 8th but failed to get his man but Liam Hendriks picked up his team mate and threw a clean inning. Ryan Tepera finished things off for the Jays in the 9th allowing a hit but nothing more.

The Jays experienced the results tonight that many had expected last night as well: beating a team that the Jays should be pounding. Pound them they did.
