Game Notes:

  • Mark Buehrle had his streak of at least 7 IP snapped at 7 straight games. Today was also only the 2nd time in his last 10 outings that he gave up more than 2 runs.
  • Base running errors cost the Jays some potential runs in the 4th inning. The Mariners turned a triple play when Carrera and Pillar both were on 3rd base but Carrera fell off the bag. Both runners were tagged out.
  • While not known for his defense Ezequiel Carrera made a nice catch to steal a home run away from Zunino. Carrera also contributed at the plate picking up two hits and a walk, one of those hits a key home run.
  • The series win was within grasp but the bullpen failed to close out the game. The bullpen gave up 3 runs in what could have been a key victory for the Jays.

Grades:

Game Ball. Ezequiel Carrera. OFFENSE . B. The offense came out and did their job again today. The MLB leading offense picked up another 5 runs. Josh Donaldson and Ezequiel Carrera both had solo home runs. Carrera though reached base a couple other times and scored a couple times. They all totalled for 9 hits and 5 runs. Not a bad day at the plate.

C. Mark has been the most consistent starter for the Blue Jays. Today was no different for that trend. While he didn’t have his best stuff he still kept the Jays in the game and left with the lead. His final line isn’t great but isn’t bad either. It was 5.2 IP, 10 H, 1 BB, 3 ER, and 3 K.. . Mark Buehrle. STARTING PITCHER

F. The bullpen was needed for a little extra today but that could have been avoided. The bright spots were Ryan Tepera and Aaron Sanchez. Both pitched well in their inning that they picked up. Bo Schultz and Aaron Loup both gave up runs. In the end it cost them the game.. Game Ball. Aaron Sanchez. BULLPEN
