Game Notes:

  • Mark Buehrle did not factor into the decision of the game leaving after 7 with the score tied up. This was a typical Buehrle day. He soaked up 7 innings giving up only 2. Today was his 9th quality start of the season.
  • Josh Donaldson reached base twice today. He picked up single a walk. He showed great range in the field and a cannon for an arm. He continues to contribute day in and day out.
  • Jose Bautista still appears to be lacking his full arm strength and the league seems to know about it. They are challenging Jose to make throws and his cannon just doesn’t seem to be there yet.
  • The offense had plenty of chanced to score runs but failed to plate them. None more glaring than the bases loaded with no outs in the 8th inning and they failed to score a run.
  • The bullpen dropped the ball allowing 3 runs in the 9th inning. The lone bright spot was Roberto Osuna who pitched the 8th inning.

Grades:

Game Ball. Jose Bautista. OFFENSE . D. Today was a day of what if`s. Today had a total of 22 runners LOB. Not a pretty stat to look at. That ballooned in the 8th inning when they failed to convert a single run with the bases loaded and nobody out. The good news is Jose Reyes and Jose Bautista picked up multi-hit games. Jose hitting in the clutch gets today`s game ball. They needed one or two more clutch hits but couldn`t get them.

STARTING PITCHER. B+. Mark was mostly vintage Mark this afternoon. He was on point with his command. Picked up plenty of ground ball outs and even a few strike outs. Mark cruised through several innings retiring 10 in a row. Mark picked up another quality start going 7 and only giving up the 2 runs. His final line was 7 IP, 6 H, 1 BB, 2 ER, and 5 K.. . Mark Buehrle

BULLPEN . F. The bullpen came into the game in the 8th needing to pick up 2 innings. Roberto Osuna pitched a decent 8th inning but the 9th inning was a disaster. Aaron Loup is the pitcher of record for the runs but Ryan Tepera gave up a two run double. They combined for 2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER and 3 K. . Game Ball. Roberto Osuna
