Toronto Blue Jays Minor Recap:Chase De Jong finally wins

Sean Nolin turns in a good outing for the Bisons, Taylor Cole pitches well in NH loss, Christian Lopes continues to impress with the bat in Dunedin, and Chase De Jong finally get a win.

Buffalo Bisons (63-56)

Bisons win 4-3. Sean Nolin won his 4th game in his 13th start of 2014. Nolin has struck out 8 and walked 2 over his last 11.0IP, while maintaining a 2.45ERA. Andy LaRoche supplied the offence with a double to right field to score Kevin Pillar, Cole Gillespie, and Brad Glenn. The win puts the Bisons only 3.5 GB of Syracuse for the division lead.

Taylor Cole turned in a decent outing striking out 6 over 7 innings, throwing 57 of his 90 pitches for strikes, but he still walked away with his 2nd Double-A ball loss (0-2, 7.30)

The D-Jays win 6-4. Dwight Smith Jr. only had one hit but it was an important one, as it got the D-Jays off to the races in the first inning. Smith came up with runners on first and second with nobody out and proceeded to drive in both runners with his 8th triple of the year.

Lansing Lugnuts (53-63)

Stop the presses. Stop the presses. After 21 starts, Chase De Jong has finally won his first game of the year.

The Lugnuts scored 4 in the first , 2 in the third and one in the 5th and were able to fend off a West Michigan comeback and take the game 7-5. Matt Dean and Mitch Nay did what middle of the order hitters are suppose to do and drove in some key runs. Dean  hit his 9th home run and single, as he collected 4RBI and now has 51 on the year. Nay has been on torrid pace over the pace six games, hitting .458/.480/.667 with 5 doubles and 3RBI. Nay collected 3 hits, 2RBI and extended his hit streak to 10.

The C’s couldn’t muster anything on offence. They were limited to 5 hits  and went 1-11 with RISP. They collect 2 stolen bases from Franklin Barreto and Boomer Collins
