There has been some shuffling of our minor league rosters over the past week. From a demotion of a major league infielder to the return of a suspended outfielder.

April 23rd- OF Brian Van Kirk was activated and placed on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats roster. Van Kirk finished serving a 50 game suspension for his second violation of the Minor League Drug Program.

April 25th- RHP Shawn Hill assigned to New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

April 26th– RHP Gregory Infante and INF Ryan Schimpf were assigned to Buffalo Bisons from New Hampshire Fisher Cats. INF Kevin Nolan was demoted to New Hampshire Fisher Cats and Chad Jenkins was promoted to Toronto Blue Jays. RHP Randy Boone and INF Mike McDade were activated from the 7-day DL by the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

April 28th- Ryan Goins was demoted to Buffalo Bisons and Chris Getz took his spot with the Toronto Blue Jays.

April 30th- Matt Boyd was promoted from Dunedin Blue Jays to New Hampshire Fisher Cats. New Hampshire Fisher Cats RHP Randy Boone was place on the 7-day disabled list. Kendall Graveman promoted to the Dunedin Blue Jays to take Boyd’s spot.

May 1st – Anthony Gose and Steve Tolleson called up by Toronto Blue Jays. Jonathan Diaz sent down to Buffalo Bisons. Moises Sierra designated for Assignment.

It is good to see Chad Jenkins getting a chance to prove he is a MLB pitcher, even if it is in Toronto’s bullpen. I was hoping to see Kevin Nolan get a little more time in Buffalo, since I didn’t think he fared too bad. I am sure that he will be back in Triple-A sometime this season. Ryan Schimpf’s hot start earned him his first taste of Triple-A and he even got mentioned in a Fangraphs article. So Schimpf and Nolan switched spots and Goins and Getz switched spots.

The promotion of Matt Boyd has the writers here at Jays Journal buzzing. Jay Blue at Jays From Away does a great job (but seriously when doesn’t he) filling us in on Boyd’s dominance in Dunedin to start the year. Boyd will make his first double start on May 1st or 2nd depending on the weather.

Good luck to those that have recently been promoted. To those that have been demoted, believe in your abilities and you will find success.
