The Toronto Blue Jays announced a flurry of roster moves after tonight’s 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians.

Lind’s notorious bad back flared up a few days ago so we’ve been waiting to hear if he would in fact hit the disabled list. Juan Francisco, who was acquired as a minor league free agent by the Blue Jays before the season began, has been raking in Triple-A Buffalo with a .341/.420/.568 slash line and has a similar skill-set to Lind. He should see his fair share of plate appearances at DH against right-handed pitching and will likely battle the struggling Moises Sierra for playing time.

With Jose Reyes back a middle infielder became expendable and since Jonathan Diaz and Ryan Goins are both better defenders, it wasn’t surprising to see Munenori Kawasaki be sent down. The addition of Maicer Izturis to the 60-day DL was even more elementary as he will likely miss at least 4-6 months with a complete tear of his lateral collateral ligament. By putting Izturis on the 60-day DL the Blue Jays opened up a spot on their 40-man roster to add Francisco.
