Game Thread: Toronto Blue Jays (3-3) vs. New York Yankees (2-3)

Drew Hutchison takes the hill today for the Toronto Blue Jays against the New York Yankees and a slimmed down C.C. Sabathia. Hutch was good his last time out (5.1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 4 K) while Sabathia was not (6 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, BB, 6 K).

Melky Cabrera will man center field for the Blue Jays, which is something was not fathomable last season. The Melk Man has been outstanding for the Blue Jays early and will hopefully be serviceable enough in center against the Yankees, who do hit a lot of line drives and kept Colby Rasmus busy in the first two games of this series.

Yet again, the Blue Jays will attempt to climb above .500, which has eluded them since June 26, 2013. A series win against the Yankees would be a great way to finish the weekend so let’s do this.

Is there anyone in baseball seeing the ball like Melky Cabrera is right now?

Well, Izturis is getting beach balls too!

CC’s giving up some hits, and the Jays are having long at-bats. Cmoooon Hutch.

Love when they make the opposing pitcher work

Well that was a much better inning. The Melkman cometh.

Hutch gets out of a jam with two strikeouts… the second looked a bit generous but I’ll take it. Jays trail 3-1 midway through three.

The ump is being pretty liberal with the right side of the zone, from pitchers perspective, for both teams. Hope it stays consistent.

For sure it’s been fairly even so far.

I’m starting to wonder how much an impact Navarro has on the pitching staff for the Jays? Regardless, Hutch is struggling with control and is leaving to many balls up in the zone.

Todd Redmond up in the pen.

    Maybe they’ll use Walden.

If this game stays out of hand wouldn’t be surprised if he gets some mop-up duty but I honestly think the only reason he’s here is because of a mistake by AA trying to call up Jenkins when he couldn’t.

Seems like it. Honestly, after this offseason, I’m giving up on assuming what this club is thinking.

another terrible series loss. it seems like the Jays haven’t won a series against the Red Sox/Yankees/Rays in a decade. when does the fire sale begin? would you wait until July, or start looking for deals for Bautista and/or Encarnacion now? I would do it as soon as possible and start the rebuild.
