No way I’m tagging this post as “Featured” but I’m going to troll myself out for some page views today. My apologies to our loyal readers.

We have big news to share today. According to the Country Music blog the Tennessean the Toronto Blue Jays’ catcher J.P. Arencibia has got engaged to singer Kimberly Perry. I’m assuming no relation to either Katy Perry or Gaylord Perry. (Update: According to our trusty Editor Kyle Franzoni – and a quick Google search – she is the lead singer in The Band Perry, which shows how out-of-date I am with popular culture.)

I don’t even really know what to write about this. Go read the article if you want to hear more about JPA proposing under an oak tree. He has yet to confirm the rumors via his Twitter account, which has run dormant since September 17th. The article says that they plan to get married next summer.

I’m sorry female Blue Jays fans but it looks like your favourite player might be off the market.

Arencibia, 27, struggled mightily both at the plate and behind it for the Blue Jays this season. He failed to reach the Mendoza line and his triple-slash was .194/.227/.365. He had more home runs (21) than walks (18). I guess it is true what they say about the long ball. Let the bad jokes begin…
