Nobody Needs A Day Off Anymore

Mandatory Credit: Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY SportsBefore the Toronto Blue Jays game last night I couldn’t help but notice Rajai Davis was at the top of the lineup. I thought wow somebody really misspelled Jose Reyes.

As it turned out it wasn’t a typo and Jose Reyes was just given a day off.

That begs the question WHY!!?!

I realize players aren’t robots or Cal Ripken and that they need a day off every now and then but the season ends on freaking Sunday! They’ll have a couple of months to not play in games.

Nobody needs a day off anymore when you can count the amount of games left with both your hands.

And Jose Reyes of all people really doesn’t need a day off because he’s only played in 89 stinking games this season.

It’s already bad enough that the entertainment value of Blue Jays games has gone down with Melky, Bautista, Encarnacion and Rasmus all on the shelf. You don’t need to be benching one of the few guys that’s still here.

And if Gibby really insist on giving Reyes a day off he still should have picked another game. It was the last time the Jays see the White Sox so not only are you denying Jays fans of Jose Reyes you’re denying White Sox fans of Jose Reyes.

The only White Sox fans that probably weren’t upset about that were the ones that need a reminder of what winning feels like more than Jays fans. And Jose Reyes may have affected that in a 1 run game.

With just 6 games left and there being so little left to watch for here’s hoping nobody important gets a day off the rest of the season, ESPECIALLY the last 3 home games.

If the Jays give any important players a day off on the last home stand they better be ready to give discounts on the tickets to.

PS. Gibby, If you want to give Arencibia the rest of the season off that would be fine and the one exception.
