Shortstop Jose Reyes left Friday’s game after sliding awkardly into second base following a stolen base. The injury occurred during the sixth inning, with Toronto up 8-4. Reyes appeared to roll over on his left ankle as he slid safely into second base.

Trainers immediately came onto the field, and after remaining on the ground for several minutes, Reyes was helped up and carted off the field, unable to put any weight onto the foot.

Emilio Bonifacio took over at shortstop in the bottom of the sixth, and the Blue Jays also have Maicer Izturis who is capable of playing shortstop as well.

No word yet from the club as to what the extent of the injury is, but judging by the replays, it does not look like it will be a short-term deal for Reyes and the Jays. Judge for yourself, but it wasn’t pretty by any stretch of the imagination.
