I'm on the fence with Snider. I agree his trade value is at an all time low and I'm sure AAA is filled with high picks who could never adapt to a major league cutter. Having said that, he's young and he comes cheap. I'd give him 2 months as a starter and then consider dangling him if he's hitting above .250

My take on value is that the vast majority of The Blue Jays' top prospects have yet to play above the A/AA level, and as such, the entire farm system is under-valued. 2012 is the year when this infusion of talent makes it's way to the AAA team, and by the end of this season, there will be a pile of guys knocking on the big league door.

IMHO, this is a year when The Blue Jays should give everybody a chance to play out the season, and make a thorough assessment of what they have. Plus, the farm system will be much more valuable by the end of this year, and it won't cost so much in terms of numbers to make up the same trade value. In addition, trading a player like Nestor Molina would not have hurt so much if there had been a few guys like McGuire, Hutchinson, et. al., pitching in AAA.

Last year, they were trying to get Snider to hit from a more open stance so he could get a better look at the ball. After all, he's strong as an ox, and you only have to hit it so far before it's a home run. He would hit like crazy for a while, but gradually he would close up, and couldn't pick up the down and away stuff until it was too late. Back to AAA. He's trying to change something he's been doing his whole life, and it's not easy. Sooner or later, he's going to figure it out, and I sure hope he's a Blue Jay when he does!

@Eagles11 Beltran is only 34, and I am sure he would not sign anywhere that he didn't have a guaranteed job in centre or right field, No platoons, no DH, no left field.

In a perfect world, Thames would be traded in a package for a starter or top notch reliever and Snider the starting LF given the chance to increase his own value. During the 2012 offseason the Jays can then either look to trade Rasmus or Snider to make room for Gose. If Rasmus is not wanting to move to LF, then he could be traded and if he is comfortable moving then Snider could be traded with his increased value given the chance to play the entire 2011 season in LF.

The Rumour I am liking is the Beltran signing. Sign Beltran to say 4-6 years and have him platoon LF with who ever isn't traded, either Thames or Snider.
