@gnor I mainly left out mentioning McDade because he's not as close to the Majors as Cooper, but you're absolutely right about him possibly being in the mix next season and beyond. I agree as well that the Jays don't have that many "unfillable" holes heading into next season.

As for 2B trade candidates, Gordon Beckham of the White Sox is a popular buy low, Major League option that would be intriguing. From a prospect standpoint, though, just type in Henry Rodriguez (Reds) into Baseball Reference and take a look!

@flatjacket1 Thanks for the great comment flatjacket1. A lot of people dismiss Cooper's stats in Vegas just because it's the PCL but, like you mentioned, average is really the main point where he benefited from it. Strikeout and walk rates are a different story.

The high CF wall in Vegas certainly factored into his numbers, great point. Cooper hits to all fields as well, with a lot balls hit hard to left and right CF, right in the gaps (at least when I saw him NH a few times, he's probably changed for the better a lot since then).

Hearing your thoughts about Cooper being better than Alonso is refreshing! Cooper's probably one of the most intriguing prospects in the Jays' system (especially after this season) considering he's never been highly regarded at all by lots of people and is far from the bust that he has been made out to be in the past.

Okay, who would be a good trade candidate to play second base for The Blue Jays? If he is to fall in line with AA's last few trades, he has to be a toolsy, high ceiling player, with a perceived attitude problem, who is under-performing/undervalued by his present team.

What would it take to move him?

You also didn't mention Mike McDade in AA, who is a switch hitter, and a better defender than anybody you have mentioned. He's a couple of years away, but The Blue Jays have plenty of depth at first base. I would rather see AA use some depth to acquire a young Orlando Hudson type to play second base, a position where they are thin in the minors.

Aside from a closer, a second baseman, and possibly a backup catcher, The Blue Jays don't have too many holes to fill this year. I am a real fan of stand pat this year, let everybody get comfortable with their roles, and just see what they can do. If you stir the pot too often, you can spoil the stew.

I too think Yonder is half a basket of fruit short of being a MLB first base slugger. With Lind, EE and Coop all ready and accounted for I say Alonzo's just not enough of a difference maker to warrant trading anything of value for.
