I would rather spend the money on Ortiz + Darvish vs a huge contract to Pujols/Fielder. And it would probably still cost less.

@Jared_Macdonald@juanguzman I agree Jared. I think it does come down to contract and salary, and to be honest, I think Ortiz would be a better fit than Fielder or Pujols -- not that they are not great players, just that they want additional years at an additional price tag. Ortiz would likely sign the two year deal and would be a good fit in the lineup and in the club house with Bautista.

@juanguzman I like where your head is at, because that's actually tomorrow's post, as I wrote about 1000 words or so on it last night, so check back for that! Ortiz's numbers against AL East opponents, not to mention veteran presence, would both be welcome additions to the Jays. Just comes down to salary and contract length.

ok, this has nothing to do with this article. on mlbtraderumors.com, buster olney suggests that a david ortiz signing by toronot would be a good fit. i have been saying all along that they need to sign fielder, but ortiz intigues me now. they could sign him to a much shorter and smaller deal to give the younger guys some time to grow more (mcdade, thames, snider, gose, etc.). what do you guys think?
