You have to be surrounded with good hitters to continually put up MVP numbers. JB rarely got good pitches to hit as the opposing managers knew that they had a much better chance of getting out guys like Adam Lind, etc., etc. Other than EE, who had a really good run for a couple of months, there was nobody to worry about in the Jays lineup. You certainly should not have to put a rookie(Brett Lawrie) in the 4 or 5 hole with all the pressure that brings. Can you imagine what numbers JB would have put up if he had a Prince Fielder or a Matt Kemp hitting behind him!! No wonder that JB stumbled in the 2nd half. You have to be surrounded with good hitters to continually put up MVP numbers.
