I just can't see the Jays trading D'Arnuad yet, unless it is for a front line starting pitcher (aka Kershaw), like you have indicated. However keep in mind that it will likely take D'Arnuad, Gose, Hutchinson and Molina to get Kershaw after this season.

D'Arnaud and Gose will likely start next year back in AA.Gose because he is only 21 and needs to cut down on his SO's and increase his BB's. D'Arnaud because he missed all of last season with injuries, so the Jays will likely want to see him increase his % of runners thrown out and cut down on his SO's as well. Plus they will want him catching the future rotation and gaining familiarity with the likes of Hutchinson, Molina & McGuire. He has already caught Alvarez and is catching McGowan right now. I could see them moving both of them up to AAA by Mid to late July 2012 (with performance). Which then has them on course for the majors in 2013. This is also the timeline that Hech is probably on too. I agree with you that Gomes is probably a backup for D'Arnaud. I think the Jays need to find out if McDade is the real deal.

Also those who keep saying the Jays have to trade Arencibia or D'Arnaud are not thinking big picture. When the Jays selected Arencibia with the 21st pick in 2007, rumour was they had planned to take D'Arnaud with the 38th overall pick. If they had done this, they would have moved Arencibia to 1B and had D'Arnaud at C. Unfortunately (or fortunately now) the Phillies took Travis and the Jays picked up Cecil.

I can still see the Jays moving Arencibia to 1B. His bat would play just fine there and if he didn't have to spend so much time on learning the hitters, he could spend more time in the cage and perhaps increase his average.

I think that this off season will be very interesting.

Sigh. I agree with everything aforementioned, but I will admit that I would be quite heart broken to see d'Arnaud traded. But with Gomes, Perez, Jeroloman, Jimenez I understand that something has to give. Would you ever expect to see JPA traded instead?
