“The place holders”, as Wilner calls them, unfortunely are not holding their place. You are losing nothing by bringing up the youth. I would not move Bautista to third, unless the move is to shake him up out of his slump. McCoy should not been the one sent down. Who turned the tap off of signing new draft picks?

Rivera can be demoted just as Alexis Rios was demoted, to get rid of his contract if anyone picks him up. He doesn’t belong on the Toronto Blue Jays, that’s all I know for certain. I don’t really care what common practice is, I just care about winning or growing the players who have growth left in them.

McCoy has options. rivera does not. Also, veterans don’t get get sent down like this, its a common practice to keep veterans around for longer, even if they may be struggling.

Also, maybe a bit hyperbolic to suggest that Cardona is expected to develop into the next Felix Hernadez.
