Great comments about the recent draft and the 'AA way'. Besides the current and in-depth content of this site one thing I really appreciate are the insightful and generally optimistic nature of the comments. So many forums tend to attract a really critical, pessimistic audience and I find it hard to understand how any Jays fan could be disappointed by recent events. The product on the field is great (especially considering the injuries and downturns of Snider and Cecil), the minor league/draft developments are very promising and the Blue Jay's reputation is starting to regain some of its lost luster.

Keep up the great work!

I completely agree Steve. And I'll add this, the Jays were willing to spend 20+ million on Aroldis Chapman, and look at how he has been so far. Then they turned around and spent more on Adeiny Hechavarria than on a dozen of their best draft picks in 2010. So, if 1 Cuban prospect is worth millions (in the tens or above), in my eyes, they should be signing EVERYBODY from this draft. No excuses. Pen, paper, wallet, hand the money over.

If they sign this draft class, you're abosultely right Steve, there's no telling how many wagons it adds onto the already rolling train towards a championship...

The ceilings some of these guys have is the best hope the Jays have had to get their own version of Pujols or Fielder, or CC or Doc, at an affordable cost. I don't think you'll find very many critics remaining when it comes to the Jays. They're making all the right moves right now.

I really like what the Jays are doing under AA. But stockpiling picks, drafting aggresively and adding a low A affiliate to give them all a place to play, the Jays have completed the first step of the process of building for the future. I fully expect the Jays to be contenders long before these guys reach the majors, but if some of these guys work out the way they're supposed to, it'll keep things going for a long time. Now comes the next part - signing these guys, without which all of the other steps would be kind of meaningless. I expect AA to be equally aggressive in getting most of these gus signed. It's expensive, but look at it this way: For 1 year of Pujols or Fielder you can sign all of these picks. For what it would cost to sign Pujols or Fielder (because they're not signing anywhere for 1 year), you could pay the 1 through 6 years in the majors for as many as the 5 of these guys that work out the best. And I think when the Jays talk about the the money being there when they need it. this is what they're talking about. Not overspending on a high price free agent, unless they know it's the final missing piece.
