OF D'A, Perez and Jimenez I think Jimenez is the best catcher - BUT - the least likely to catch for the Jays in the Show. I think this because Jimenez is a SPECTACULAR ATHLETE and can more easily play 2nd, 3rd, or rf or lf for that matter in the Bigs. I see us keeping him and I think JPA's power is going to keep him as the main catcher for years.

I see (injuries not withstanding) Perez and D'A BOTH being moved in trades. The ONLY way Jimenez stays as the Jays catcher of the future is if his defensive play is just SO GOOD he forces JPA to 1st or DH - that could happen.

MAN - do we have some studs - or do we have some studs!

Think it's a bit premature to promote anyone especially given the ages. If there is one thing this club has learned from the Travis Snider situation, it's let them truly develop and just don't go with stats in the minors.

Also you have to keep in mind the injury bug. D'Arnaud has already spent a significant amount of time last season on the DL.

Personally I think one of these guys will have to move to another position. Most likely JP will go to 1B, making room for D'Arnaud or Jimenez.

There's a reason that the Jays didn't sign 1 catcher out of their entire 2010 draft. They only selected 3 (all in the 27th rd and beyond), and didn't sign any of them. It just wasn't a priority for the organization.

One addition that will be made to SS or the GCL that also needs to be monitored this season will be Santiago Nessy - who has a big-time bat and adds nice depth to the position. He only made 3 errors in the DSL last season, hit for extra bases about 10% of the time at only 17, and he led them in doubles (10), HRs (2), while finishing 2nd in OPS (.703).
How he makes the jump to the U.S.will be fun to watch!

I agree with Jared that Brian Jeroloman and Ryan Budde really haven't shown anything to keep d'Arnaud from making the jump to AAA. At this point, I'm not really sure what's holding the Jays back from promoting some of these great catchers.

It'll be interesting to see whether or not the Jays grab a prominent catcher in the upcoming draft, or any catcher within the first 10 rounds. If they don't, you know that they're thinking: we're good.

So here is the most important question. What do the Jays do in 2013 when D'Arnaud and possibly Jimenez are both ready for the Bigs. Obviously a good problem to have but a problem none the less.
