Jays Prospect League Leaders

Since we’re now in the middle of May, I thought that it would be a good time to compare Jays minor league performances at each level by seeing who stands amongst the leaders of their respective leagues. I realize that it’s still early in the season, but enough time has gone by to take a look at who the leaders are. Here’s a rundown of what I came up with:

Las Vegas Prospects – Pacific Coast League Leaders

Hitters

  • Eric Thames and Brett Lawrie are 18th and 19th in AVG with a.333 and .329 AVG respectively;
  • Brett Lawrie and Eric Thames are tied for 11th in SLG% with .587;
  • Eric Thames is 22nd in the PCL with a .411 OBP;
  • Brett Lawrie is tied for 9th in the PCL with 8 SBs;
  • Brett Lawrie is 3rd in TB with 91, while Eric Thames is 7th with 81;
  • Eric Thames is tied for 13th in RBIs with 26 while Brett Lawrie is tied for 15th with 25;
  • Brett Lawrie is 7th in the PCL with 8 HRs;
  • Eric Thames is tied for 3rd in Doubles with 13, while Brett Lawrie is tied for 5th with 12; and
  • Brett Lawrie leads the PCL with 51 hits, while Eric Thames is tied for 7th with 46.

Pitchers

  • Brad Mills is 4th in ERA with a 2.51 ERA through 7 starts and is 2nd in IP with 46.2;
  • Winston Abreu is tied for 6th most appearances with 16 GP;
  • Scott Richmond is tied for 9th in the most BB issued with 18 (tied with ex-Jay Dana Eveland);
  • Brad Mills is 4th in Ks with 39;
  • Brad Mills is 5th in Whip with a 1.09 total;
  • Winston Abreu is tied for 5th with 4 holds; and
  • Brett Cecil is tied for 8th in Wins with 3 already.

New Hampshire Prospects – Eastern League Leaders

Hitters

  • Michael McDade is 9th in AVG with a .326 AVG;
  • Michael McDade is 12th in OPS with .861;
  • Michael McDade is 12th with a .492 SLG;
  • Michael McDade is 18th with a .369 OBP;
  • Anthony Gose is tied for 2nd in SB with 15 SBs while Adeiny Hechavarria is tied for 9th with 8 SBs;
  • Michael McDade is 4th in total bases with 65;
  • Anthony Gose is 3rd in triples with 3;
  • Michael McDade is tied for the lead in doubles with 13 while John Tolisano is holding his own in 12th with 9;
  • Michael McDade is 3rd in hits with 43 total; and
  • Michael McDade is 4th in runs with 24.

Pitchers

  • Rey Gonzalez leads all EL pitchers in ERA with a 1.41 ERA thus far;
  • Chad Beck is 3rd in ERA in EL with a 1.91 total, while B.J. LaMura (2.73) stands 11th;
  • Rey Gonzalez is tied for 3rd in wins with 4;
  • Alan Farina is 9th in outings with 13 GP;
  • Alan Farina is 5th in saves with 5 to his credit;
  • Rey Gonzalez leads in IP with 44.2, while Zach Stewart is 6th with 41.2;
  • Chad Beck has the 2nd lowest whip at 0.85, while B.J. Lamura (1.06) is 7th;
  • Evan Crawford is tied for 2nd with 4 holds;
  • Joel Carreno is tied for 4th with 38 Ks, although it comes with a 5.05 ERA;

Dunedin Blue Jays – Florida State League Leaders

Hitters

  • A.J. Jimenez (.365) is 3rd in AVG;
  • A.J. Jimenez is tied for 5th with a .925 OPS;
  • A.J. Jimenez is 10th in SLG% with a .519 total;
  • A.J. Jimenez is 12th in OBP with a .405 total;
  • Kenny Wilson is 5th in SBs with 10 SBs;
  • Bradley Glenn is tied for 4th in SO with 37;
  • No Dunedin Jay is within the leaders in walks. A problem perhaps?
  • Bradley Glenn is 6th in TB with 69;
  • Bradley Glenn is 11th in RBI with 22, while Ryan Goins is helping out in 17th with 19 RBI
  • Bradley Glenn is tied for 3rd in HRs with 8;
  • Bradley Glenn, A.J. Jimenez, and Ryan Goins are all tied for 16th with 8 doubles;
  • A.J. Jimenez (38) and Bradley Glenn (37) are 17th and 18th in hits respectively;

Pitchers

  • Nestor Molina (1.71) is 5th in ERA;
  • Chad Jenkins (2.56) is 11th in ERA;
  • Deck McGuire (2.78) is 16th in ERA;
  • Wes Ethridge (16 GP) leads all FSL pitchers in outings;
  • Wes Ethridge is 2nd in saves with 10;
  • Chad Jenkins is 12th in IP with 38.2 IP;
  • Deck McGuire and Nestor Molina are tied for 14th in Ks with 33 a piece;
  • Nestor Molina is 2nd in the FSL with a 0.82 Whip;
  • Deck McGuire (1.18) and Chad Jenkins (1.22) are 14th and 15th in Whip; and
  • Aaron Loup is tied for 4th in holds with 4 to his credit.

Lansing Lugnuts Prospects – Midwest League Leaders

Hitters

  • Marcus Knecht (.310) and Jake Marisnick (.306) are 15th and 16th in AVG respectively;
  • Jake Marisnick (.888), Marcus Knecht (.873), and Michael Crouse (.844) are 11th, 13th, and 19th in OPS respectively;
  • Michael Crouse is 10th in SLG% with a .505 total while Jake Marisnick is 15th at .492;
  • Jake Marisnick (.396) is 14th in OBP;
  • Michael Crouse is 3rd in SBs with 15, while Jake Marisnick is tied for 6th with 12;
  • K.C. Hobson is 17th in walks with 16 free passes;
  • Jake Marisnick is 8th in Total Bases with 61;
  • Jake Marisnick is 2nd in RBIs with 27, while Michael Crouse is tied for 11th with 21;
  • Michael Crouse is tied for 10th in HRs with 5, while Jake Marisnick is tied for 16th with 4;
  • Michael Crouse is tied for 3rd in triples with 3;
  • Oddly enough, no Lansing prospect is within the leaders in doubles;
  • Jake Marisnick is 6th in hits with 38; and
  • Michael Crouse is 6th in runs with 23.
