the jays don't have a choice in how many of hill's options to pick up. it's both or he's a free agent. I can't see any situation where he gets 8 mil.

Found this in a quick search:
Reyes' streak is the longest by any active pitcher and the most since Matt Young made 27 straight starts without a win for the Mets and Cubs between 1992 and 1994...
Also this (reason why AA is keeping Reyes):
To this point, Reyes has had a discernible, somewhat alarming pattern to his starts. In his three even-numbered starts, including Tuesday's start No. 6 against the Rays, he has allowed six earned runs and 16 hits in 20 innings, for a 2.70 ERA. In his odd numbered starts, Reyes has allowed nine earned runs and 23 hits in nine innings, for a 9.00 ERA. Every time it looks like his status as the Jays' fifth starter has been on the line, he comes through with an effort to earn another shot.

Snider is tearing it up in AAA likely because he is actually seeing some centre cut fastballs to hit. In the meantime, major league pitchers will not have forgotten how to pitch him, and when he returns, he will again see nothing but breaking balls again. Until he learns to stay closed and wait on breaking balls, and lay off pitches out of the strike zone, he will not have much success as a major league hitter.
You don't bring him back just because he is hitting well in AAA; he did that last time. You bring him back when you are satisfied that he has fixed his swing, and is ready to hit major league pitching.
Case in point: J Bombeasta gets a steady diet of breaking balls, but he is able lay off those out of the zone. Sooner or later, they hang one on him, and he crushes it. He's actually hitting better this year than he did last year, so maybe the next step is to just throw a fastball down the middle and hope he hits it to somebody! ;)

Does that include the new 7 day DL? Bautista's already missed 4 games, if thats the case, give him another series off, and we can recall someone to fill his gap. Although, I'm not sure if AA sent Travis down, for 4 games worth of seasoning.

Don't forget, if Bautista (or someone else) gets put on the DL, they can immediately call Snider back up.
