Jays have faced some tough pitching lately. At least that's the optimist in me. I expect we'll see some improvement playing indoors with homer friendly Rogers stadium.

At some point in time we as Jays fans are going to have to accept the fact that Snider will never become a well rounded hitter. He is going to get some extra base hits, and maybe some extra walks, but he simply has too many holes in his swings to become a solid avg hitter. He always tries to get full extension so he never brings his hands in to put the barrel of the bat on a pitch that's on the inside of the plate, therefore you never see him inside out that pitch or drive it hard up the line unless it's inside AND very low in the zone, where he can still put the barrel on it in spite of getting full extension. He also has trouble driving anything on the outside of the plate because his front shoulder flies open - once every couple of weeks he'll keep it closed enough to slice that outside pitch to the gap, but he rarely puts a real charge into that ball the way that Delgado used to do. The fact that he has straightened out his stance this year has allowed him to get to some high pitches he could never get on top of in prior years, but he still usually just fouls those straight back because he's underneath the pitch, once again, because he goes for full extension instead of bringing his hands in to put the barrel of the bat on it

I'm going to give Lind and Hill a couple of months before I judge them this season. I'm not willing to do the same for Snider, despite his age, because this is the 3rd season that I have seen him have the same exact problems at the plate

At this point, are we better off letting the pitcher bat or have Juan Rivera DH?
