Good point, forgot about Eveland actually bringing back someone who's actually useful. Funny, mentioned Uviedo as a reliever in the system to keep an eye on last night on twitter too. My bad.

I don't disagree with you at all Jenkins. But, I will say this: LaRussa has been looking to add a top of the order bat for a LONG time. Rasmus doesn't want to slap hit the ball as he was asked to do, and nobody else on that team (or in their system) fits that mold. So, I do believe that Rajai Davis would be someone that they'd covet in return and he would resolve the loss of Rasmus in CF. Could they ask for Snider as well as Davis? It's possible, and it may not impact the Jays as much as we'd think IF (a big if) Eric Thames is ready to take over LF or Brett Lawrie gets the gig.

Again, it was my wildcard that has many scenarios that could be included. From Hill/Davis/Purcey for Rasmus/Carpenter to Snider/Davis/Purcey for Rasmus/Carpenter, you can make a ton of differing scenarios.

I seriously doubt a deal that big will get done. I just threw it out there to have some fun with it.

Tom is correct in assuming the Jays won't get a boat load for Purcey, but I do think he undervalues the attraction of a LHP reliever. I wouldn't be surprised to see really decent prospect come back. After all, if AA can get Ronald Uviedo in return for Dana Eveland, he can surely get much more back for Purcey!! Right?

There's no way that deal would net Colby Rasmus in my opinion (& yes, I realize that he & Tony LaRussa aren't exactly Tom Hanks & Peter Scolari in terms of their relationship).

Maybe something like Travis Snider, Brett Cecil & a good prospect (or two) would get the ball rolling but Rasmus is a young, cost effective potential cornerstone guy who plays a premium defesnive position & isn't even 25. I could be overestimating his value, but I doubt it.

Don't think they'll get anything much for Purcey but in the Astros system maybe someone like Brian Bogusevic, 27 yr old, lefty outfielder, hits for some average, draws walks, steals bases at a good rate might be someone they'd consider surplus to requirements.

I know the Jays have cornered the market on thirty-something injured center fielders, but he'd be interesting. Or maybe an outfielder like Drew Lock, he's right handed, has some pop in his bat, oldish for a minor leaguer at 28.

Tommy Manzella looks to be out of favor with them and is about to turn 28. He can't hit but he's supposed to be a solid defensive middle infielder. He'd be useful, if incredibly unexciting.

Anyways, someone like that is probably the best they can hope for.

I like the Rasmus idea (I think both Cecil and Hill would have to be involved) but I don't like the idea of bringing in a 3B and moving Lawrie to LF because it reduces his value - his expected production would make him a well above avg 3B but barely more than an average LF

....remember, I've been down on Cecil for a while
