I agree with trading JB, mainly because each of the outfield prospects you mentioned has more speed and better defence than JB will ever have. Come playoff time, opposition pitching is liable to shut down JB's bat, and they are going to need P&D, speed, and good OBP to win in the playoffs. They already have enough power in Snider, JP, EE, Lind, and Hill. Time for a more balanced attack. (Trade may not be with Oakland, but I agree it should take place. Buy cheap, sell dear!~)

[...] Are the Oakland A’s Going to Trade for Jose Bautista in 2011?Mat makes the case for the A’s trading for Bautista. Here’s a question – if the Jays do trade Bautista mid season, what do you think a potential return could / should include? Assuming that he hasn’t totally regressed back to his pre 2010 numbers. [...]

You took what I thought and put it in words. People might think you're crazy for this post but I agree with it because if you look at it from Bautista's point of view he's gonna want a long-term deal (5-6 years) which I believe, if he puts up just average numbers by last years standards. Some team is going to be willing to give him the length and dollars that Toronto will probably not offer. If Bautista was a couple of years younger I would be all for it but if he's going to go searching for the biggest deal we should just pass, because over the length of the contract, I doubt you will get the proper value.

Actually, I'd prefer Barton as the centerpiece of such a deal. Barton and Bailey and a third lesser guy would do it for me easy.

I agree Mat. Looking at the age of the team and the timeline for contention, his trade value exceeds the value of his production over the next few years. If he's mashing next season..which I as well think he will be...I think you could be looking at 3 top ten prospects from someones system. There is a major power shortage in todays game..I would think AA could shop around the league like a kid in a toy store on a free shopping spree.
