I heard someone say – I think it was in the AFL, and Iglesias and Hech were taking fielding practice together. I became a game of “can you beat this?” Would have been fun to watch.

It’s weird how similar their stats are yet Iglesias is considered a top 50 prospect in the league and well… Hech is not even cracking the top 10 (he cracked top 10 here though). I know our farm has great talent but seriously, Iglesias and Hech are pretty much on par. I’ll give the slight edge to Iglesias though.

Iglesias is too much hype IMO.

I was lucky enough to see A. Hech and A. Chapman both play on a trip to Cuba almost two years ago. Not only did the talent level of the entire Cuban league blow me away, but these two guys stood out from the rest immediately. Glad to see AA and the Jays invest in their scouting and look to the international option when searching for talent. I for one can’t wait to see A. Hech in the show, his range and arm are amazing.

I’d point out that his range is a big reason for the errors listed. Many of the errors he made were on plays where he got to balls that few others could ever get to. So, while those numbers have some worth, you do have to look at the whole package.

It’s great to hear from those who have seen him play (I saw him 3 times) and agree with his double play tandem being strong. He’s a special player who may get his credit only once he becomes a regular in Toronto, but who should get there soon.

“Was rated as having the best tools of any Jays infielder defensively by Baseball America pre-2011 and was ranked 13th in their Jays prospect rankings”… interesting statement since he had a combined 20 errors in A+ and AA in 2010. The numbers say defence could be his weak point.

He’s a great kid with great tools like a quick release, strong arm and blinding speed. He’s also earned respect with an outstanding work ethic and attitude. I’ve seen him play a dozen times or more. He needs to put it all together and develop better defence and a better knowledge of the game to go with his natural tools. Paired up with 2B Jonathan Diaz in New Hampshire, he was part of one of the best double play machines I have seen in 2010. A-Hech will have a great run once he puts it all together. I say look for mostly good things from this fine young player.

Agree with some of what you said Theo, but like I said above, Snider, Hill, Lind, and Bautista are not prospects and are all here to win now.

As for Deck, he could be here as quick as 2011 because of his polish. More likely 2012, but that’s still well before 2016!!

I’ve heard that from some who saw him before coming to NA, but that was during all of the signing hype. I’ve heard a ton of people say that Iglesias may be the best SS on the planet defensively right now. So, the fact that Adeiny is even in the same range bodes well for the Jays. Personally, I’d rather have the outstanding defensive SS who can also hit with some power, and the Jays must agree because that’s exactly why they gave Adeiny more money than they were willing to give Iglesias!
