I played 2 years with Noah. He has an awesome work ethic and competitive streak. If you watch him for an extended period of time, you will agree that he has what it takes to make it big.

I know I tend to be in the very optimistic side of things when it comes to Syndergaard, but I actually believe he may outdo all other pitchers taken in the draft. His stuff, build, and the fact that he gets stronger as the game wears on tell me that he should have no issue remaining a starter. But, best of all, it’s his his personality, work ethic, and confidence that tell me he has #1 potential if everything works out as planned.

There’s a reason the Jays took him ahead of Asher and Griffin. He was an under-the-radar pick that will make the Jays scouting staff look brilliant. At least, that’s the way I’m thinking as of today. 2011 should hopefully prove me right!

Wow, I enjoy your optimism but I think it’s a tad bullish at this point. I like the kid’s personal polish as well but I think it’s a bit early to put this kid on the Jameson Taillon/Stetson Allie/Zach Lee level as far as 2010 prep arms go. There’s a definite ‘reliever outcome’ here as well if the secondary stuff hasn’t/doesn’t firm up as reports claim (not that there’s anything wrong with that).

Totally understand, but I’m standing by it on this one. His tools are just too advanced for his age to not develop them. Also, I said he has a true #1 ceiling, not that he’d be the second coming of Roy himself. Roy had his own style.

I do believe that with more pre-draft hype and exposure, Noah would have been drafted in the first round.

I wrote that sentence before re-reading my interview with him and forgot he had mentioned Roy Halladay as well as Clemens. So, I added him in while writing my draft but forgot to change the end of the sentence. Thanks for picking that up for me!

being able to compare any prospect to roy halladay is a HUGE step forward for this franchise. i’m uber excited for the upcoming season, and watching this talent grow within the organization.

Comparing an 18 year old with 13.1 innings of minor league ball under his belt to MR. Roy Halladay is – well – a tad ambitious. I think Noah’s gonna give Mat a lot of effort, sweat and tears over the next few years to prove his assessment is correct.

Personally, I’ll be happy – even if if our tall, lean, Texan falls a tiny bit short of Mr Roy “Almost Freakin’ Perfect” Halladay. No question Sanchez, Murphy, Taylor, Jaye and Mr. Noah Syndergaard all give us one of the best high school arm drafts I’ve ever seen.

Yup… maybe if he was the 1st overall pick or something, then he could have the ceiling of Halladay but right now, it’s not even close.
