MG - this series of reports - is truly spectacular both in it's breath and its depth. BRAVO!

Thon and Opitz look like two very interesting SS's. It's unusual to get two well above average SS prospects in one draft - heck - it's rare to get one good SS prospect - ever!

As to where this guy actually rates with his fellow 49 prospects - well - time will surely settle that. In the mean time, lets enjoy watching these guys sort themselves out and continue to enjoy reading the rest of these wonderful prospect profiles!

I understand the apprehension of having Shane over Kellen, but we felt that Shane's athleticism outweighed the assured MLB status Kellen is sure to have at some point. Kellen is a better bet to become a regular in MLB, but while Shane comes with more risk in terms of translating his athletic talent to baseball performance, he's also a better bet to make it AND be an all-star at some point. That's why we ranked him ahead of Kellen. He has a higher ceiling and is more likely to develop power to go along with a keen bating eye.

nice article but wow you're already rating him ahead of Kellen Sweeney despite being taken 9 rounds after Sweeney? I'm really skeptical about your rating methods now.

Enjoy the posts regardless, hope to see who you have in the final 22 spots.

Opitz may be one of the hardest working players out there. He's a throw back player that will out work everyone to help the team. I am truly excited that you have profiled him.
