Mylegacy, I entirely agree with you - no doubt about it, that's what KC is asking for, but it's not what they're going to get from Toronto. What I listed above is what I believe Alex and the Jays are willing to pay because they want to retain their top players at each position. If KC won't accept a lesser deal, then I think you're bang on, one of Texas or Washington will step up and outbid the Jays. I still doubt the Jays will land him at all, I just think they'll at the very least continue to pursue him until they see that the price isn't going to budge.

Hope that makes sense!

Mat - I think Grienke is a bridge too far for the Jays.

Firstly, I think the Rangers get him - they've the motivation - lost Lee - the prospects - and the money to sign him long term.

As for the Jays - I think you're way too lite on your offer - I think - I KNOW - it would take, at the very least, at least one of Snider or Drabek. PLUS a package of say: Gose, Hechaverria and Lawrie. OR something so close to that that it's a no deal from our side.

I'm really sure the Rangers will overpay. Or the Yanks will throw in Jesus and some other shiny bits.
