The Red Sox and Yankees usually end up with very nice prospects for many reasons. First, they have the money to spend on scouting the right players - a must to draft well. Second, they always get the edge in getting above slot guys on board late in the draft because they're willing to overpay. I know he hasn't panned out, but Andrew Brackman is the perfect example. Finally, there are so many great prospects in baseball that every single team has a real shot of getting some. The difference maker is in getting well above-average guys, not just slightly above average.

The Jays do very well in getting some good players through their system and have been recognized for it by BA and other prospect analysts.

How is it that Boston's affiliate and New York's sit behind us in minor league standings at second and third I am assuming. Also how is it that Boston seems to have so many up and coming players like Anthony Rizzo, Ryan Kalish, Che-Hsuan Lin, and Jose Iglesias in the lineup as mentioned. I don't know who these guys are but if they were mentioned I am sure they must be good. Basically what I am asking is how do they have so many good prospects if they always end up in first or second place, shouldn't their drafting be very poor as they always end up with low picks?
