Brad Mills Impressive in AAA Opener

SP Brad Mills was lights out last night, as he struck out 9 hitters over 6 innings and only allowed 2 hits. He threw 61 strikes out of his 90 pitches. Sean Henn, David Purcey, and Rommie Lewis followed up his efforts with 3 scoreless innings and allowed only 2 walks and 1 hit between them over 3 innings. All this was against Salt Lake (LAA AAA Affiliate) which has top prospects such as Peter Bourjos, Hank Conger, and Mark Trumbo. This game was definitely a pitching dual between Mills and Trevor Reckling, as neither gave up any runs in their outings.

Offensively, Brian Dopirak, Jeremy Reed, Christian Colonel, Aaron Matthews, and Brett Wallace had 1 hit each, but the real story of the game was Jesus Merchan who went 3 for 3.

Of note in this game was the confirmation that the Jays intend to use David Purcey out of the pen from now on (foreseeably).
